Senior broker Jim Nero graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in Journalism in 1979. He began his career as an advertising copywriter; later, he was the editor and co-founder of a biweekly newsletter on low priced stocks that was featured on the Good Morning America television show. Jim also worked for several years on Capitol Hill, covering the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Administration, and the House and Senate Banking Committees. He was a salesperson and software trainer for Intergraph, a Fortune 500 company in the CAD/CAM industry, and the MIS Director for a $50 million manufacturer and distributor of products to the commercial cleaning industry.
Jim has worked in the Bay Area as a licensed business broker for eight years, during which time he has sold a wide variety of businesses, ranging from “Main Street” to M&A deals. The Main Street deals he’s brokered include, among others, automotive, billiards, check cashing, fine art, retail, and package and ship businesses. His M&A deals include a flooring retailer that sold for $5.3 million.
